|Flooding in Bangkok Not Disrupting Flights to Singapore|
|Sunday, 30 October 2011|
Despite the fact that Bangkok is now beginning to flood, as of Thursday afternoon there were still 43 flights operating between Bangkok and Singapore without experiencing any delays or cancellations. People arriving in Bangkok and those returning to Singapore reported a relatively calm atmosphere in the center of the capital, despite the large numbers of people who are now beginning to flee the city.
The Thai government has declared a five-day holiday in Bangkok and in 20 other provinces in order to allow residents to leave the area until the flood waters recede. Many residents are taking advantage of this opportunity, not wanting to risk becoming trapped should the flood waters increase substantially. Channel NewsAsia spoke with many travel agencies who reported that many people are postponing their trip or choosing an alternate destination.
