GoAir Contemplates Late Night Budget Flights
Tuesday, 24 April 2012
At at time when air travel costs are rising and many can no longer afford to fly the blue skies, GoAir is considering the idea of returning to old practices, that of offering budget night flights that will attract passengers who want to spend less for tickets. Jeh Wadia, managing director of GoAir, said that the airline has already talked with the government about being allowed to operate non-capital city flights with a reduced sales tax on fuel.

GoAir was once the smallest commercial airline, but lost that position to Kingfisher Airlines earlier this year. The airline is considering adding a different type of aircraft to its fleet, one that will be able to accommodate flights to smaller cities. They currently operate Airbus A320s. Wadia said that GoAir took its inspiration for the night time budget flights from seeing consumer goods companies that have been successful despite the downturn by targeting the rural markets.
