|
Saturday, 17 January 2009 |
Today marks the beginning of the inaugural events that will see President-elect, Barack Obama, become the 44th President of the U.S. There are a huge number of events that will be taking place, including speeches, inaugural balls, concerts, parades, invocations, and, finally, the inauguration itself. Before kicking off the inaugural events in Washington, President-elect Obama and his family will take a train ride from Philadelphia to Washington on January 17. On the same day there will be the People's Inaugural Gala at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
January 18 will see the President-elect start off the inaugural festivities in fine fashion with a concert and welcoming event that will be followed by a Presidential Inaugural Luncheon and Fashion Show at the Ritz-Carlton and Aloha Inaugural Ball at the Wardman Park Marriott Hotel at 7:30 p.m. On January 19 there will be a National Day of Community Service event, a children's evening concert at the Verizon Center, and three private dinners for the President-elect to attend. January 20 is Inauguration Day, with plenty of events, and the following day the President, Vice President, and their families will participate in a prayer session at the Washington National Cathedral. |
