Aircellhas made a milestone announcement. The company has installed Gogo Inflight Internet on its 1000th aircraft. Aircell has provided internet access on more aircraft than any other inflight service company and Delta Airlines DC-9 is about to make its first internet connected flight, departing from Detroit later today. The past month has been a busy one for Aircell as the company has equipped numerous aircraft for Delta Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and American Airlines. Now more than 3800 flights per day, including 1/3 of all mainline domestic flights, are equipped with Gogo Inflight Internet, which is a substantial increase over the 2100 flights that had inflight internet at this time last year. The company plans to continue installing Gogo on flights throughout 2010. Gogo Inflight Internet allows passengers to check emails, browse the internet, engage in social networking, and access inflight entertainment. This access is available for those with WiFi-equipped laptops and mobile devices. |
