National Park Week is here and runs from Saturday, April 16 to Sunday, April 24. The official charity of the national parks of the U.S., the National Park Foundation, along with the National Park Service want as many people as possible to experience the nation's national parks. To this end people can visit any of the nearly 400 American national parks for free for the entire National Park Week. President and CEO of the National Park Foundation, Neil Mulholland, says that the nearly 400 national parks in the U.S. belong to the citizens of the country and they offer fun and adventure for people of all ages. The celebrations of the week are focused on “Healthy Parks, Health People” and people are being encouraged to support the protection of these beautiful areas while getting outdoors and celebrating nature. Daily prizes will be awarded, including park passes and outdoor gear and even a trip to the incredible Shenandoah National Park. Park visitors are invited to share their photos, videos, and stories at http://www.facebook.com/nationalpark. Please visit www.nationalparkweek.org for more information. |
