Kingfisher Airlines has been facing a severe financial crunch during the past few months and recently canceled flights from Nagpur to Hyderabad and Indore, from November 8 to 19. Now Kingfisher Red is planning on wrapping up in Nagpur. The flights to Hyderabad and Indore have been suspended indefinitely. A spokesperson from Kingfisher announced that there are indications of a wind up of operations in the city and that more details will be announced soon. According to a spokesperson from the airline, airline chairman Vijay Mallya had previously decided that the airline would be giving up those routes that were not profitable and instead will only fly commercially viable routes that are in accordance with the route dispersal guidelines of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Kingfisher was the only airline to offer direct service between Nagpur and Indore. See the original Google News article for more details. |
