|Lake Como's Latest Hotel Opening|
|Friday, 03 February 2017|
Lago di Como is a magical place and a place I could easily visit every year, given half a chance. You can imagine then how excited I was when I heard about a brand new luxury opening on the shores of the lake - Il Sereno.
The hotel is part of Leading Hotels of the World and has been designed by Patricia Urquiola in a very contemporary style - unorthodox by comparison to the rest of the hotels on the lake which are Neo-Classical Palazzos. By utilizing a plethora of different woods and stones in a very elegant way the finished product is really quite refined. Some "traditionalists" may be put off by the choices of materials but I would urge these travelers to go outside of their comfort zone of the Villa D'Este (another wonderful hotel on the lake and also a personal favorite) and experience Il Sereno.
Our room was tastefully designed with all the amenities, useful and superfluous that one comes to expect from a luxury hotel these days. The piece de resistance though was the balcony expanding the length of the room and thus providing vistas across the whole lake. Living in central London, where water views are limited it never ceases to amaze me just how calming it is to look out over a marine landscape. Another great feature of the hotel is the infinity pool which sits aside the lake providing you with amazing views whilst doing your lengths.
