Florida is about to get LEGOLAND, thanks to Merlin Entertainments, which is the biggest attraction operator in Europe and the second biggest in the world. LEGOLAND Florida will be in the location of Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven Florida, which Merlin bought from Land South Group, a property investment company based in the U.S. LEGOLAND Florida is set to open near the end of 2011.
This is meant to be the biggest LEGOLAND in the world to date and the 145 acre property, which includes the previous water park, theme park, and historical botanical gardens, will be turned into a resort-style park. The infrastructure of the property has been improved over the past few years, with $100 million already invested in the property, and the attraction will have lodging and special theme parks that will build on the attractions that are already on site. This will include branded attractions by Merlin Entertainments. |
