Looking For an All-Inclusive Vacation? Look Closer

Beach Vacation So you're thinking that you'll take that long awaited stress reducing relax-a-thon of a vacation by purchasing one of those everything-is-included-in-the-price vacations. You're thinking that's it, I'll just fire up the ol' credit card once, order my trip and the rest will be pure pleasure. Well, not so fast there old chum. Most all-inclusive vacations are far from all-inclusive.

Even that ol' standby, cruising -- which many people may think of as all-inclusive -- may not be. The total tab for drinks, taxes and fees, tips, transfers, and phone or Internet access, can easily double the price of your all-inclusive vacation. Great huh?

Cruises are not the only place were the all-inclusive term can be misleading. Many resorts will charge for drinks other then water, with charges such as $5.00 for a beer or $7.00-$10.00 for a mixed drink at a bar. Make sure to read the fine print when booking an all-inclusive resort vacation as most of the time tips are not included, and that can add 10% or more to your initial costs.

For more info and some tips on how to prepare for your next vacation, make sure to read this article from the Los Angeles Times travel section.
