More Trips To Mexico Cancelled

Thanks to the violence that has been happening in Mexico, Summer Winter Action Tours (Swat) Travel in Costa Mesa, the biggest U.S. travel firm on the west coast that specializes in student travel, has cancelled the trips of students from 50 colleges who were planning on heading to Baja California. Instead, these students will be heading to Palm Springs, Florida, which is an area that can use the economic benefits this influx of tourists will bring. The recent travel warnings that have been issued for Mexico have prompted the travel agency to cancel the trip due to concern from the families of the students. Palm Springs, which has been hit hard by the recession, has changed its long-standing restraints on spring break tourists. They are now welcoming students with open arms and even held a campaign in which they emailed 55,000 students between the ages of 18 and 27 to let them know that Palm Springs was waiting for them.
