"It's one thing to read about places in your history book, but to actually be there and see it in person is more powerful than anything else you could experience," said Jason Cochrane, a high school biology teacher from Cedar Rapids, Iowa who led a group of students to South Africa last year with Discovery Student Adventures. "We were not restricted to the usual tourist spots, but were brought into the depth of the country to witness its spirit, struggle and strength.
