"I have friends who travel to Europe as often as we do, and I suggested to them to check your site. You really offer better prices than other online sites." -- Ornella

Destination: Australia Australia continues to be a top destination for travelers, and no wonder – the country offers everything from lush tropical beaches to arid deserts and rainforests, with world-class entertainment in the major cities and rugged wilderness in the outback. There’s a little something for everyone in Australia, which can make it tough to figure out just what sort of adventure Down Under you’d like to experience.

For an unusual vacation, think outside the generic package tour. The island of Tasmania has traditionally been overlooked by all but the most dogged of return visitors to Australia, making it a unique travel destination. Located off the country’s western coast, Tasmania’s temperate climate offers beautiful scenery, lush vineyards, hiking trails and fishing lodges. Wildlife tours feature platypus viewing, and introduce visitors to the famed Tasmanian devil, the world’s only carnivorous marsupial. It’s a marvelous choice for nature lovers.

You may not think “wine tour” when you think of Australia, but wine is a major industry. 70 percent of the country’s wine comes from South Australia, so if you’re planning to visit Adelaide (considered the food and wine capital of Australia) you should also plan to do some wine tasting. Thanks to the diversity of the area’s immigrant settlers, it’s an international experience that you can’t find anywhere else – German-style wines are grown in the Barossa Valley, the Clare Valley was settled by Irish, Polish and English immigrants, and an Italian influence can be felt in McLaren Vale. Be sure to visit the Sevenhill Winery, where the very first vines were planted by Austrian Jesuits in 1842.

And while it might not have made the top of your list, the Greater Darwin area has become one of the hottest destinations in Australia and a favorite getaway for Australians themselves. The northern “top end” of Australia is far from the balmy beaches of New South Wales, and it’s attracting a new kind of tourist – the visitor who wants a genuine outback experience. You can hike through wildlife parks, visit crocodile farms, enjoy sailing, fishing and scuba diving, and visit galleries and museums filled with aboriginal art. Australia offers spectacular scenery, great food and friendly people, an adventure that you’ll remember for a lifetime.
