Continental Ends Merger Talks With United
Monday, 28 April 2008
Continental Ends Merger Talks With United Continental Airlines said yesterday (April 27, 2008) that it had ended any merger talks with United Airlines and plans on remaining an independent carrier.

It is believed that Continental decided to drop the merger discussions after United's parent company announced worse-than-expected earnings. Last week, United said it lost $537 million during its first quarter, based mainly on the skyrocketing costs of jet fuel.
