Major US Airlines Raise Their Prices... Again
| Major US Airlines Raise Their Prices... Again |
| Thursday, 08 May 2008 | |||||||
In an effort to offset rapidly rising fuel costs, the three largest American air carriers have announced they have again raised ticket prices, this time by $20 round trip.
The increases by American, Delta and United can be found in the carriers' fuel surcharges, which now total $130 round trip on many flights. Delta Air Lines was the first to plunge in with the new pricing which mainly applies to domestic routes. It was their second hike in just over a week. The price of jet fuel, like gasoline, has risen rapidly along with the price of crude causing incredible financial stress on all air carriers. The airlines are also cutting back on flights to reduce costs as the economy slows.
