The Travelers Medicine Cabinet
Friday, 02 January 2009
The Travelers Medicine Cabinet Travel writer Amy Chen recently made a list of the “11 items that should be in every tourist’s first-aid kit.” Take a look at the following – have you packed the essentials for your next trip?

  • Pepcid Complete – An over-the-counter product that combines a stomach-acid reducer with an antacid. Because you never know when adventurous eating may cause problems
  • Band-Aids & Neosporin – For minor cuts and abrasions.
  • Advil -- Or a generic brand of ibuprofen, which can ease sore muscles as well as fight pain and fever.
  • Ultrathon Insect Repellent – A repellent with a concentration of 30 percent deet or more is recommended.
  • Dramamine—For motion sickness. Just be aware that it can make you drowsy.
  • Imodium A-D – Because diarrhea can ruin even the loveliest vacation.
  • Benadryl – Or a generic substitute antihistamine, for hay fever, hives, or itchiness from bug bites.
  • Neutrogena Sunscreen – Made with a formula called Helioplex, which makes the sunblock last longer.
  • Zithromax – A prescription antibiotic that can cure bacterial infections (primarily food-borne) that are resistant to Cipro.
  • Cortaid – Or another -inflammatory cream containing 1 percent hydrocortisone, for rashes and bug bites.
