Obviously travel sites such as Bargaintravel.com try to present the widest inventory of all the travel products our vistors might need at the best price. But what if you really want to save as much money as possible and are very, very flexible, it makes sense to try some of the online auctions. The big daddy of online auctions, of course, is eBay. EBay has made great strides in improving their travel offerings. They have set up a system for travel sellers on the site to have travel credentials and have tried to pull out all the "travel discount certificates" that are more trouble than their savings are worth (although I saw several on my visit that almost fall into that category). The regular "buyer beware" applies more so in these cases, since many of these packages have tough restrictions so be sure to stick with seller's with great feedback and email the seller to answer your questions before you bid. The other type of auctions to consider are ones like skyauction.com , where the auction house is the seller that budles deals and packages from travel service companies. These types of auctions are well priced, usually more straight-forward than independent sellers like at eBay and have less risk. SkyAuction.com has been around since 1999 so they are in this for the long haul. Either type of auction that you choose, you can win big if you are open to the best deal and watch the details.
