When youíre doing a lot of walking while traveling, head off blisters by dabbing a little Vaseline or lip balm on affected areas. Of course, the best way to avoid blisters is to break in your walking shoes or hiking boots for a couple of weeks prior to your trip. Make any new shoe purchases one of your trip pre-planning to dos or bring your most comfortable pair of shoes, no matter how unfashionable they may seem. And remember that two pairs of medium-weight thin socks are better than one pair of heavy ones Ė that way the socks can rub against each other, and not against your heel.
