Hiking near DC? 3 Months ago Karma: 0
Can anyone suggest a decent place to hike near Washington DC? Can be in and out, or a loop hike of no more than five miles. Also not something that is going straight up a mountain or makes you wade through rivers (jumping over small streams, and climbing over fallen trees is ok though)

I'm looking for a good hike within 50 miles of this city. Thanks guys.

Zammajannan,

I think you will find this _link_ helpful. It's slackpacker's list of DC hiking trails.

Thank you so much. That is EXACTLY what I was looking for. I think I might actually buy the book that was mentioned in the article too. It's just a few dollars.

I hope you'll be able to find some great trails. Whether or not you get the book, you may want to look around the outskirts such as Silver Spring for trails that aren't real near the city proper.
