Chocolate is pretty much loved by all, and Belgium makes some of the best. The Visit Belgium web site has a great listing of chocolate museums, demonstrations, events, tours and famous chocolate shops.

The site hasn't been updated in a while, but it still has some great stuff.

Check it out here.

There was no way that I was going to pass up a thread with THIS _title_! No way!

That said, I've had chocolate directly from Belgium... truffles... and I guess it wasn't bought at one of the better chocolatiers because I wasn't very impressed.

Then I felt guilty for thinking that Sees is much better because of so much money being spent to gift me with the Belgium chocolate. Now if tasting it involves a trip to Belgium, I may have to change my opinion on this matter.

But you are right, Katharina; Sees makes some of the best chockies I've ever tasted. For the price, and ruling out a quick to Europe, you can't beat it.

I've had great Belgian chocolate, but I must admit I had better chocolate from South America. It was a very rare, made in Venezuela, a special collection of sorts... of course, Belgian chocolate has a lot more fame.

The butterscotch squares are like biting into pure brown sugar covered with chocolate. And there are a few other pieces just as delightful. I'm glad they ship for online orders. I suppose places in Belgium do, too.

The nice thing is, you can usually get a few free samples at some of the chocolatiers, like Godiva's and Leonidas. What is everyone's favourite dark chocolate ( I mean the darker the better) chocolate?
