$350 deposit? 11 Months ago Karma: 0
About a year ago we flew into Burbank Airport in California. We had never flown into Burbank before, and assumed that we would rent a car at the airport to drive during our stay and turn it back in when we left. It turned out that Enterprise, a rental company that we have used often with no problem, required a $350 deposit or they wouldn't rent to us. They had never required that of us before, after we had rented a couple of times, and we had rented in Cali a number of times. This really put us out! Was it because we were coming in through Burbank, or some other reason? Thanks for your answer.

This is very strange. I flew in to Burbank 3 weeks ago for a funeral and rented a car from Enterprise. They did not require any type of deposit. I used a corporate American Express card for payment.

I'm wondering if it was the kind of credit card you were using?

Thatīs weird... perhaps it was something with your credit card type? Iīve never rented in Burbank, but Iīve rented with Enterprise many times and never had to leave a deposit.

I was talking to a friend and she told me that she also got 350 dollar deposit charge. Funny thing is that her total rental agreement was for 210 dollars.

Wow, I'm glad that I haven't had to rent a car lately! Do they put the charge on the credit card right away and then reverse it later? Sounds a little backwards... if they already have the card number, why not just put charges on if there's a problem?
