I heard yesterday on the radio that Paul McCartney will go accross country driving on the Route 66 (or what it was). Have you ever been there? I haven't, because I been around that area by air only from the East Coast. What about you?

I have been on parts of Route 66 but never long distances and certainly not the whole way... but I think it would be a lot of fun! It's not actually part of the highway system any longer.

I think it's more of a nostalgic thing now than anything else. It's even called "The Historic Route 66" now and not a "real" highway that is heavily used.

It is very little left from the original Route 66. But I guess following what "was" with the new ways is more of a symbol than anything else.

True, Berlin. The freeway systems kind of dissected Route 66, as it was a highway. I know there are bits around the country; I think some place around San Bernardino (Berdoo)in Southern Cali there is some remnant of it left. As Chuck Berry referenced both road and city in his song, I'd figure Pauly would need to travel through there.
