One way trips... 5 Months ago Karma: 0
I found myself (more than once) buying a rount trip ticket because the one way ticket was extremely expensive. But that happens mainly with Airlines that are American. IN Europe, you can buy one way tickets and are way cheaper (the logical thing). If you had the chance of buying one way tickets, taking the chance of finding something cheaper for your return, would you buy it? I did it and honestly, saved a couple of hundred dollars... of course I did it in Europe.

I think that sounds reasonable as long as one is willing to take the risk that it may actually turn out to cost more than a round trip would have cost after all.

Personally I think I'd choose the convenience of already having a return ticket and not have to mess with buying another. But if that much money could be saved, I'd probably be easily convinced to wait.

What I did, I used two different airlines for my roundtrip, and that's how I saved. Berlin-Barcelona with Air Berlin was cheaper than with Easy Jet, and then the return, Easy Jet was way cheaper than Air Berlin. I love the flexibility and of course the savings!

Ah, very wise choice, yes! I do researching and comparing like that for other parts of a trip such as area restaurants and hotels, so doing it for flights as well sounds like a very good idea.

Here in America I would not risk it since the prices are so much in flux. I would rather have the round trip ticket ready and not get stuck somewhere waiting to get another one way ticket. But in other countries where it is easier to get the one way tickets for cheaper I would consider it especially if I was not on a tight time schedule.

I sometimes need to fly into one city and out of another and not all airlines can accommodate that, so, yes, I do sometimes need 2 one-way tickets. I agree that it's easier to do through European carriers like Ryan Air and KLM.
