I was wondering if you are in the path of a hurricane do the reroute the ship to another port of call? Just curious as to what happens. Thanks

When I went on cruises to the Caribbean, I never experienced that, but I guess all these boats and routes have a safety plan just in case something happens.

That's an interesting question, and I'd also be curious to know the answer.

I know someone who worked on a cruise ship as a performer, and she had some interesting anecdotes about life and work onboard, but she didn't mention rerouting for weather. I'd assume that would be the procedure.

She did say that in the event of someone missing, the ship would turn around for a search.

I'd think this is what they'd have to do, too. They certainly won't go through the bad weather so they'll either need to reroute or maybe postpone the cruise until a later date.

I assumed there would be literature provided by the cruise line that explained how weather issues would be handled, along with drills to familiarize people with emergency procedures.

I asked because someone was telling me that being on the water in a big ship is actually safer then being on land in a hurricane. I don't see how that is though?
