I don't have a laptop at the moment, but I was just wondering what made you guys buy the laptop you're using (if you have one that is). Is it a gaming laptop, a laptop for music, just a laptop for assignments, etc.

I currently have an iBook G4. I bought this a little over a year ago and did a lot of research before I bought it. Apples are more expensive but worth it in the longrun, I believe. I plan on having this laptop for at least 5 years, which I know I'd never be able to do with a PC. And... I don't have to buy virus protection which is always a huge plus!!!

Oh yeah, I'd also like to add that Mac's are great if you're a bit creative! Theres awesome programs that came with my ibook, and with these programs I can write my own music and make my own DVD's! It's really a lot of fun.

Just got a MacBook for traveling to conferences so that I can keep in touch with my clients.

I chose a Mac because I am a long time Mac user, the price was right and if I want to, I can run Windows on it.

I have a Dell I bought last year. I chose it for the larger than normal screen (17"). In a laptop, I also look for comfort in the keyboard and type of mousepad. Size and weight aren't as important for me since I don't spend a lot of time at internet cafes. If you're in school though, that may be a significant factor as well as battery charge life. As far as the components, a laptop is no different than a desktop. Choose what's best for your needs.

I have a mini Vaio (14in) that I travel with. I love it for it's size and weight. I do a lot of research traveling so it's perfect for me to cart around.
