Staying at a Bed and Breakfast 1 Year, 12 Months ago Karma: 1
My wife and I like to stay at Bed and Breakfasts when we travel. It's been hit and miss but most of the time we have been pretty happy with the results.

There are some pretty good resources on the net for viewing and booking and I'd like to share with everybody a few of my faves:

www.bbtravel.com has only California B&B's but you can find a lot of info there.

www.bedandbreakfast.com is national and has a LOT of good info.

www.bbonline.com is not the most beautiful of sites, but you can find things with it.

www.lanierbb.com is more for the international B&B's as is www.ibbp.com.

Before you book, make sure that the B&B has the amenities that you have come to know and expect. Many have no TV, or perhaps are located in a remote area so that sightseeing is difficult.

Can anybody else recommend a good B&B source?

thanks for those url's! I love staying at small hotels, cottages or B&B's!

Meeting new people at breakfast really is part of the fun!

Once I was staying at a Bed & Breakfast place, and I was the only guest.

When I got up, the hostess put muffins in the oven and made a great breakfast for me.

That was my best B & B experience, and it was in Port Dover, Ontario.

I once stayed in a lovely bed and breakfast in Washington DC, not too far away from a series of appointments I had in the 14th to 17th Street area. Everything was within walking distance, I had great things to see and great places to eat and there was a lovely cocktail hour in the library at the B&B every evening. My room was quite small, but I spent very little time in it anyway.

I have actually never stayed in a B&B! I had considered it, but wasn't sure about sharing a bathroom and eating at a table with new people (I am not real chatty in the morning) I have heard that many B&Bs are *so* quaint and is a terrific play to try for a getaway.

We haven't used one yet either. I don't really mind talking to people at the breakfast table, but there are other aspects of it that feel a little "too cozy" for my tastes.
