Philippine Airlines (PAL) is revising its flight schedule for the next seven months to accommodate for the runway closure at Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The runway is closed for repairs and the closure will run from January 10 to August, 2012. One domestic flight and 12 international flights would be affected, including: PR752/753 to Delhi, via Bangkok; PR732/733 Manila-Bangkok-Manila; PR505/506 Manila-Singapore-Manila; PR113 Los Angeles-Guam-Manila; and PR 466/467 Manila-Incheon, South Korea; PR212 Melbourne-Manila. The runway repairs will include repaving the main runway, which measures 3747 m long, 60 m wide, and 5 inches thick. A rapid exit taxiway (RET) will also be built. The repairs and additions are being done because of complaints of congestion, a rundown appearance, and poor facilities and are expected to cost P350 million. Expect other airlines to announce schedule changes in the near future. See the original Google News article for more details. |
