Potential Strike Could Cause Mass Flight Cancelations
Sunday, 27 November 2011
The warning has gone out to all passengers traveling to or from the UK on Wednesday, November 30 as there is set to be a large-scale one-day strike held by the public sector. Joining the strike will be border and immigration staff and that means potential gridlock at the airports.

Airport operator BAA says that the 24-hour walkout could cause delays of up to 12 hours at Heathrow. As immigration will experience significant delays, passengers could become stuck on arriving aircraft for lengthy periods of time and with nowhere to park these aircraft there is a high potential for gridlock on the tarmac.

Both British Airways and Virgin Atlantic Airways have announced that they are waiving the rebooking fees for those who do not wish to fly on November 30. Contingency plans have been put into place to ensure that airport operations go as smoothly as possible.
