Predicting Cruise Trends for 2011
Monday, 27 December 2010
The cruise experts at CruiseLineFansare predicting the new cruise trends for 2011 based on the new style of cruise ship that is taking over in popularity. The newer ships are much bigger, in the 130,000 to 140,000 ton range, and carry between 3500 and 4000 passengers. Disney Cruise Lines has introduced their new ship, the Disney Dream. In addition, Carnival Cruise Lines, Cost Cruises, and Seabourn will also launch new ships.

Challenges to the cruise line industry come from the new emission regulations that will come into effect starting in 2015. These new regulations will be stiffer and this is in conjunction with the higher fuel costs. When it comes to revenues, cruise lines will continue to find ways to increase the revenue per person, despite the fact that the economy has shown signs of recovery. Finally, technology has allowed social networking sites to have a profound effect in the cruise line industry, allowing people to share their opinions online. In addition, new forms of technology will make passengers' experiences even better and improve the operation of the ships.
