Preparing For Swine Flu Season
Friday, 25 September 2009
Aspirin Flu season is upon us and SmarterTraveler has released a checklist to help travelers be prepared for the coming travel season in relation to swine flu. Before leaving home travelers are advised to check their health insurance coverage for the destination to which they are traveling and to get addition coverage through a travel insurance plan. Travelers should also consult the CDC website and the local tourism board at their travel destination for up-to-date information on health risks.

Should you be turned away from your flight when you do not have swine flu your travel insurance may not cover you. Be informed and read your policy carefully. If an outbreak of the swine flu should occur before you travel you will need to be informed of the cancellation policy of your chosen mode of travel. If you are traveling somewhere where swine flu is an issue, then avoid heavily crowded areas and public transportation. If you do become ill while traveling, contact the local U.S. embassy or consulate and they will help you find the care and resources you need.
