Qantas Flight Experienced Severe Turbulence
Tuesday, 10 January 2012
Qantas A380 was en route from London to Singapore, on Saturday morning when over Indian airspace it hit a large air pocket and experienced severe turbulence that caused injury to seven passengers, four of whom were hospitalized when the aircraft reached Singapore three hours later. All those in hospital have since been released, according to Qantas.

It was confirmed by a Qantas spokeswoman that the captain had turned on the “fasten seat belt” sign just seconds before the turbulence hit and many passengers were still trying to get back to their seats. Passengers said after that they were literally pressed into their seats and then thrown into the air. Those who were fastened in were given quite the shaking and injuries included cuts and broken bones.
