Queen Elizabeth II Liner May Become Luxury Hotel In Dubai
Friday, 13 March 2009
Palm Jumeirah in Dubai Dubai may soon be getting a new luxury hotel, the Queen Elizabeth II ocean liner, which was once the grandest of all liners. The QE2 is docked in Dubai and may be relocated to Dubai's Palm Jumeirah. During the planning stages of the transformation of the liner into a luxury hotel, master developer Nakheel may open the QE2 as a tourist attraction.

Nakheel has said there are no plans to sell the liner and the plans of doing renovations to turn it into a luxury hotel are being prepared. Nakheel was created in 1990 as a commitment on the part of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid al Maktoum to ensure that the UAE would become a world revered tourist destination. The Palm Jumeirah was developed in 2006 and is the location for grand accommodations, entertainment, dining, and shopping. Resorts have been built by many of the largest hotel chains, including Hilton, Movenpick, Radisson, Fairmont, Shangrila, Metropolitan, Altantis, One and Only, and the Trump International Hotel chains.
