Federal Government has announced its decision to ban all British Airways flights into Lagos, starting next week. The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has cited reasons for the ban, but it is suspected that it is an act of retaliation for the denial of slot allocations to Arik Air at London's Heathrow Airport. On Wednesday, Federal Government reduced British Airways incoming flights from seven to three per week. Their decision, they say, is in relation to the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) and they cite operational reasons, but British Airways notes that the restrictions are only being applied to their flights and not those of other air carriers.
