 Shrimp & Grits has become a phenomenon at exclusive restaurants across the U.S. and the Georgia Shrimp Festival is ready to celebrate this incredible pairing. On September 18, 2009 get ready to enjoy shrimp & grits in the best possible way at the historic Jekyll Island Club National Landmark Historic District. It is here that the mouthwatering dish will be served and there will also be cooking competitions featuring both professionals and amateurs, boat rides, cooking demonstrations, shrimp eating contests, entertainment, races, and more.
Director of Special Events for Jekyll Island, Beth Burnsed, says that the festival is a great time for people to enjoy not only the beauty of Jekyll Island, but also the bounty of the ocean caught fresh off the coast of Georgia. The festival gets underway on Friday, September 18 at 5:30 pm with a special $3 Shrimp Sample Night.
