Thus far there have been few delays in travel leading up to the hectic Thanksgiving weekend. However, this may not hold throughout the weekend, as the eastern part of the U.S. is being pummelled by a storm that is bringing much snow to their neighbor to the north. However, in the northeastern U.S. the disruptive weather is in the form of rain, high winds, and low clouds. As of 9:00 am ET this morning only Philadelphia was experiencing any delays of 30-45 minutes, but travelers should remain prepared for delays. It is not uncommon for New York LaGuardia, New York JFK, Newark Liberty, and Philadelphia airports to experience lengthy delays for even mildly poor weather. As these are major hub airports for many major U.S. carriers, delays can produce a ripple effect, causing delays in other parts of the country. Fortunately, the rest of the country is experiencing good weather and the weather in the northeast will clear by Thanksgiving morning. See the original Google News article for more details. |
