Southwest Flight Tires Blow before Takeoff
Thursday, 29 December 2011
Tuesday evening saw Southwest Airlines flight 2287 delayed in its takeoff for Seattle as two of its tires blew while on the runway, prompting the response of firefighters and emergency crews. The main tires on the left of the aircraft blew at about 6:15 said Laurie Slothower, spokeswoman for Sacramento International Airport.

Spokeswoman for Southwest Airlines, Katie McDonald, said that the pilot responded appropriately, aborting the takeoff and calling for emergency crews who proceeded to hose down the aircraft as a precaution. There were no injuries and all passengers aboard the flight are being booked on alternative flights. The cause of the blowout has not be determined, but an investigation is underway.
