The U.S. Department of State is concerned about security and safety of American citizens in the country of Nepal and has issued a travel warning for all U.S. citizens who are traveling or residing in that country. Recent political tensions may spawn political violence, such as that seen in the past and the Department of State warns all U.S. citizens in Nepal to be on their guard. Those who are currently making travel plans to go to Nepal should be prepared to change those plans last minute and those already in Nepal are asked to keep a close watch of the local media and stay close to their hotels of homes. They are advised not to go to areas in which demonstrations are being held. Protests and demonstrations can occur without any advanced warning and can become violent. Curfews can also be put into place with little or no advanced warning. |
