The World Masters Games is yet another way for athletes to make it to the world stage and this year Sydney will be hosting the 7th World Masters Games from October 10-18, 2009. These games are held every four years, each time in a different city in the world, and the event actually attracts more athlete than the Summer Olympic Games because it is open to regular athletes, those who just enjoy playing their sport each and every day. Those who wish to register simply have to meet the minimum age requirements, which is between 25 and 35 years of age and depends on which sport they will be doing, and they must register at 2009worldmasters.com, which includes a $220 registration fee. There is a long list of sports that will be featured at the games, including, but not limited to, golf, hockey, tennis, volleyball, water polo, sailing, cycling, rowing, and diving. Sydney is all set to host the games, with more than 70 venues ready, including the Sydney Olympic Park. |
