Travelers are beginning to question whether their travel insurance protects them in situations that involve terrorism. This comes in the wake of the death of Osama bin Laden and Squaremouth.com says that it is important for travelers to be informed. The U.S. State Department issued a statement on May 1, 2011 that warned U.S. citizens who were in places where anti-American violence could take place to stay in or close to their homes and hotels and avoid public demonstrations. Different policies have different terms when it comes to terrorist coverage. Some require a terrorist attack to happen with 30 days of travel and others require it to happen a week before. The recommendation from Squaremouth.com is to find policies that allow for a 30-day time period and companies that offer this coverage include Travelex Insurance Services, Seven Corners, Travel Safe, Travel Guard, MH Ross, Travel Insurance Services , Global Alert, and Travel Insured International. Policies do not cover trip cancelation due to fear a terrorist attack will occur. |
