From July 1 to September 30, 2011 Virgin Airlines is teaming up with Google to offer their passengers a chance to "test-fly" Google's new Chromebook for free, both inflight and at certain airport departure gates. Those passengers who do try out Chromebook will also receive a free inflight WiFi session compliments of Gogo. The use of Chromebook and Gogo's WiFi platform means that at 35,000 feet passengers can surf the net for free, which is fitting since Virgin was the first airline to offer fleetwide WiFi. To add to the excitement, Google has teamed up with Virgin to develop the "Virgin America Traveler" Chrome app. This free app will be available in July at the Chrome Web Store and will allow users to plan their trip and make a list of what they need to pack while on the go. It also allows users to use UrbanDaddy to determine the best place to go for a vacation or where to stay when traveling to a particular destination. |
