Thailand Has Declared A State Of Emergency For Bangkok
Tuesday, 13 April 2010
There has been a state of emergency declared in Bangkok by the government of Thailand. This is due to the UDD demonstrations in the city and the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok has issued a message of warning to all U.S. citizens who are traveling or living in Bangkok.

The U.S. Embassy is alerting all American citizens in Bangkok to pay close attention to all public announcements issued in Bangkok and to be prepared for additional security personnel on the streets of the city. It is important to remember that even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can get out of control and caution is recommended.

The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs website is an important source of information for all American citizens who are traveling or living abroad. It is on this website that all travel warnings and alerts are posted for countries around the world. American citizens are also encouraged to read through “A Safe Trip Abroad.” Up-to-date information on security issues abroad can be obtained by calling 1-888-407-4747 form either the U.S. or Canada and 1-202-501-4444 from all other locations.
