That's Why They Call Them Memory Cards
Thursday, 29 November 2007
flash media cards You know that removable memory card in your digital camera? Well, remember to remove it when youíre not taking pictures. That way, if your camera is lost or stolen during your trip, youíll still have all the photos you took before it went AWOL. It's also a good idea to carry an extra memory card or two and trade them off with one another as you travel. Losing some of your pictures to either a missing camera or a memory card malfunction is terrible Ė losing all of your pictures because you didn't rotate your images onto multiple memory cards is even worse.

Donít worry about carrying memory cards through airport security, by the way. Unlike exposed film, memory cards arenít damaged by exposure to X-rays. Just donít carry them loose in your pocket Ė they can be damaged by static from rubbing against the fabric, and loose change in your pockets can scratch them or short them out. Most memory cards come with a plastic container specifically designed to protect them. Use these containers to keep your memory card and your precious memories safe.
