While there are many ways to enjoy the festivities of the holidays each year, visiting any of the nations national parks is certainly at the top of the list. Many of America's national parks hold wonderful events to celebrate the holiday. At the top of the list might just be the National Christmas Tree Lighting at Washington, D.C.'s President's Park, held on December 9 at 5:00 pm ET. Examples of other special holiday events happening at national parks include the Holiday Open House at the Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona, Christmas Past at the Fort Larned Historic Site in Kansas, Holidays at Glenmont Estate at the Thomas Edison National Historical Park in New Jersey, Christmas at the LBJ Boyhood Home at Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park in Texas, and Santa's Workshop at The Ellipse at President's Park in Washington, D.C.
