The October numbers show that Qantas canceled 9% of its flights, mostly due to industrial actions, while Tiger had the best record for on-time departures, 85% on-time, out of all the major domestic airlines. This comes after Tiger experiencing a six-month suspension of flights in August that was due to safety concerns.
It was confirmed by the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics that the poor October results for Qantas Airlines were due largely to the disruption of services over a number of days that in turn was due to a labor dispute between the airline and more than one union. The results of other airlines indicate that Virgin Australia was second in the running for on-time departures (83%), followed by Qantas (76.4%) and Jetstar (75.8%). Jetstar said that their delayed flights were due to bad weather and single runway operations at Sydney Airport. See the original Google News article for more details. |
