Tips To Make Flying Easier
Monday, 12 January 2009
Image Flying can be a pain, what with tight seats, airport delays, security hassles and irritating seat mates. Over at Smarter Travel.com, they’ve compiled a list of ten ways you can make air travel less unpleasant.

In addition to the obvious (get a good seat even if you have to pay extra, pack your own food, fight dehydration), there are some ideas that you may not have thought about trying. Bring a set of headphones or earbuds to plug in to the seat jacks, so you can cancel out cabin noise with music or a movie. Bring a packable scarf, wrap or small fleece blanket, for in-flight warmth or an impromptu pillow.

Organize your things so that you’ll have what you need as soon as you settle in your seat -- nothing’s more irritating (to you or to your seat mates) than having to get up ten minutes after take-off because you left something vital in the overhead.

And plan for a possible layover ahead of time. Check the web site for your connecting airport, and find out what amenities they have (restaurants, lounges, shower facilities) in the event that you get stuck. And make note of nearby hotels, stashing away their phone numbers.
