Both United Airlines and Continental Airlines have announced that they will be offering more to the Elite Status members of their frequent flyer programs. Both airlines will be offering complimentary domestic upgrades to Elite flyers on flights on either airline, provided the seats are available, starting mid-year of 2010.
With the new arrangement, Elite members of United Airlines frequent flyer program will have access to Continental's premium economy seating and members of Continental's elite-level will be able to enjoy complimentary access to United Airline's Economy Plus seating. Those who qualify for the upgrade in seating will enjoy additional leg room. This new set of benefits for United and Continental frequent flyers is a result of the global partnership the two carriers entered into in 2008 and since Continental joined Star Alliance on October 27. the partnership also allows customers of both airlines to enjoy better access to cities around the world and the ability to earn and redeem miles on flights of either airline. |
