Now effective for all bookings made on or after February 12, 2010 for travel on or after March 1, 2010, passengers of Virgin America will be subjected to changes to the airline's baggage fees. The airline will be charging a flat fee of $25 for each piece of checked baggage, which is an increase from teh $20 per piece that was charged previously. First and second bags for First Class passengers and first bags for Main Cabin Select and Main Cabin Refundable Fare passengers will be free.

Virgin America has one of the best first bag weight limits in the airline industry, allowing up to 70 pounds, and the weight and size policies will remain the same when the fee changes. The airline flies to Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco, New York, Seattle, Washington D.C., Las Vegas, Boston, San Diego, and Fort Lauderdale.
