May 2012 will see Virgin Atlantic launching flights between Vancouver and London. The London-based airline has not added a new Canadian city to its flight schedule in more than ten years, but approximately 20,000 people fly between Canada and the UK each month and with the addition of Vancouver as a new destination, there will likely be more.

B.C. Premier Christy Clark says that the new flights between London and Vancouver will be very beneficial for B.C.s tourism industry. There will be a total of four flights per week between the two cities and there could be as much as $54 million added to B.C.s tourism industry. The timing is also ideal as the new flights will begin in time for the 2012 Summer Olympics which are to be held in London next year.
