Biltmore is getting ready to host its 25th Annual Festival of Flowers, which is a time-honored tradition that celebrates the stunning beauty of the 8000 acre property of George Vanderbilt. Running from April 3 to May 16, 2010, the festival will showcase the greatest and final project of Frederick Law Olmsted, the person who has been given the title of the father of American landscape architecture. This year there is also another exciting event that is being run in conjunction with the festival. This is the grand opening of the Antler Hill Village, which is a pedestrian venue that will be included in the admission price when tourists visit Biltmore. The village will present visitors with live music, shopping, an outdoor adventure center, an exhibition center, and green space. The Biltmore Winery will also be celebrating its 25th anniversary and those attending the festivities can enjoy their updated tour and tasting room. The Iris is the center of the floral decor of the festival this year and there are also more than 100,000 tulips that will add beauty and splendor to the landscape. |
