Those travelers who have always wanted to watch migrating whales will thoroughly enjoy the upcoming Mendocino Coast Whale Festival. This year marks the 29th year of this wonderful event and it spans three weekends, including March 5-6, 11-13, and 19-20. the festival showcases many wonderful activities, including wine tasting, micro-breweries, local restaurants, and nature walks. However, the highlight of the festival is the sight of the magnificent Gray Whales. Whale watching can be done by horseback, walking along the coastal bluffs, or by boat. No matter what way tourists watch these 20,000 whales as they move toward their winter waters near Alaska, it is nothing short of a spectacular sight. In addition, visitors can enjoy art shows and art studio tours, and even the grand opening of a historical museum. The Mendocino Coast Chamber of Commerce is the festival organizer and those who wish to have more information or purchase tickets can call 707-961-6300. |
