New Orleans is the place for music and jazz is certainly no exception. Loosely known as “Jazz Fest” the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is about to get under way and is held in conjunction with the Louisiana Heritage Fair, which is held over two consecutive weekends: April 23,24,25 & April 29,30, May 1,2, 2010. This is an amazing festival full of great jazz music from some of the world's best musicians, incredible food from some of the finest chefs and cooks, and handmade crafts from some of the most talented craftspeople. Each year 400,000 people attend this 10-day event and even though the title only mentions jazz, there is plenty of other cultural music. Those attending the festival will experience gospel, R&B, blues, Latin, afro-Caribbean, folk, rock, country, bluegrass, and so much more. In addition, some big names will be performing, such as Simon & Garfunkel, Pearl Jam, Aretha Franklin, Lionel Richie, Van Morrison, Anita Baker, The Allman Brothers Band, and The Neville Brothers. Tickets for the festival can be purchased at Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster.com, nojazzfest.com. Or by calling 1-800-745-3000. |
